Protecting Children. Preserving Families.
OCOK began case management services in Region 3b, March 1, 2020.
OCOK is responsible for:
Finding foster homes or other living arrangements for children in conservatorship of the state of Texas.
Providing youth in care with services essential to guiding a child successfully into adulthood.
Providing case management and family services that enable children to safely achieve permanency in their own home, with relatives, or through adoption.
In the early days of the CBC program, OCOK worked with service providers throughout Region 3b to evaluate current service offerings and to expand capacity, as necessary. In its first five years, OCOK developed and continues to support a robust network of providers.
These providers deliver a full array of services to meet the needs of families involved in the Texas child welfare system, thus creating an integrated, full continuum of care in the Region.
Additionally, OCOK:
- Performs case management responsibilities for the provision of all substitute care services
- Establishes permanency goals for the family, face-to-face visits between children and family, court activities, and kinship services
- Manages Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) services
